Hailing from Northport, New York, violist Charles Galante is a dedicated soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Mr. Galante has collaborated in concert with The Silk Road Ensemble, Colin Carr, Frans Helmerson, Charles Neidich, Elmar Oliviera and James Dunham. He has had performances broadcast live on WSMR and WQXR Young Artist Showcase. His festival appearances include Ravinia, Lucerne, Spoleto, Miesbach, Taos, Four Seasons, Kneisel Hall, Sarasota, The Heifetz Institute and the Tanglewood Music Center, where he was the recipient of the 2017 Maurice Schwarz prize. Mr. Galante has been principal of the Yale Philharmonia, Juilliard Orchestra, the New York String Orchestra Seminar and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. He currently serves as a guest musician with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Noree Chamber Soloists, Ensemble Connect and the Jupiter Chamber Players. Mr. Galante received his Bachelor degree from the Juilliard School where he studied with Heidi Castleman and Misha Amory. Currently, he is a graduate student at the Yale School of Music under Ettore Causa.
