Joe Desotelle (b. 1995, Buffalo, NY) is a multifaceted percussionist currently residing in Cleveland, OH. From an early age, orchestral playing has been a focus of Joe’s. His drive for excellence in this discipline has led him to some of the most storied stages including David Geffen and Carnegie Hall. Joe has played in concert with The London Symphony Orchestra, The Houston Symphony and The Kansas City Symphony. In the summers, he has received fellowships to Spoleto Festival USA, Tanglewood Music Center and was a Keston MAX fellow at the Music Academy of the West in 2018. As an educator, Joe spent three years as a counselor and chamber music coach at the Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar. He also maintains a studio of private students and began teaching virtual seminars for high school percussionists during the COVID -19 pandemic. Joe holds an undergraduate degree from The Juilliard School and a Master’s degree from Rice University. His primary instructors were Daniel Druckman of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Matthew Strauss of the Houston Symphony.
