Lauren Spaulding, a Texas native, received her BM and MM in Viola performance, working under the tutelage of Professor Peter Slowik at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Geraldine Walther of the Takács Quartet. As a soloist, Spaulding has worked with many notable performers including Kim Kashkashian, Noboki Imai, Antoine Tamestit, Lawerence Powers, Victoria Chiang, Pinchas Zukerman, Carol Rodland, James Dunham, Yizhak Schotten, and Midori Gotō. Currently, Spaulding co-heads the Denver chapter of ‘Music for Food’ with Kim Kashkashian, is a member of Meredith Monk’s contemporary performance ensemble, works regularly with the Colorado Symphony and holds the titled position of Assistant Principal of the Cheyenne Symphony, the Assistant Principal of the Fort Collins’ Symphony, the Assistant Principal of Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, the Assistant Principal of the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, and the Principal Violist and Festival Artist for the annual Colorado MahlerFest.
